So three years of blogging, huh! In the grand scheme of things, that’s not that long but for me I’m pretty impressed I’m still here, blogging and sharing my life in written form.
Yes, I’ve had bouts of blogging all the time and then not at all, but as I sit here writing this post I feel a sense of pride and satisfaction that I’ve haven’t jacked it in when the tough got going (unlike much of the rest of my life- but that’s a different story entirely!).
So with the anniversary of 3 years of blogging I have taken the liberty to really thinking about my blog and what it represents. So let me share with you where AbbieChic.com is currently at…
Perhaps it’s an age thing, but I’m really into retro, vintage and second hand clothing and homeware. Think of me as Phoebe from Friends, who can not abide that her furniture may of come from Pottery Barn or the like. Like Phoebe, I also like something that has been preloved and even a back story to it especially with homeware.
For example; dog eared books, a vintage hand bag or an old photo or artwork.
With fashion I love discovering branded items at bargain prices when in Charity (Thrift) shops. Yes, it does take some scouring but when you stumble upon that gem of a find it’s so much more rewarding then popping into Topshop, grabbing the item and going. Also proceeds from charity shops go to helping great causes, not lining the pockets of corporate businesses.
I also love being able to reuse and recycle such items. It’s better for the planet and better on my bank account.
That said I’m not about to scrap my wardrobe and start again but I will be introducing more vintage and secondhand pieces into it.
And that’s what I want my blog to be. A place to break the stigma of shopping in second hand and charity shops and show you can still look good at the same time with inspirational photos.
I want to show how current fashion can be mixed in with more retro/vintage trends. I want to also be a bit shabby chic and non commercial with direction and inspire others to look out for clothing and items that need a new home.
And lastly I still want to interject elements of my life in here too to give it some balance.
I hope that gives you some clarity on my blog going forward;
Charity/thrift store inspiration
Secondhand items and a little bit of me thrown in for good measure!
Apologies if that sounds bit confusing and I’ve not explained myself well, but I hope with forth coming blog posts you will see exactly what I mean!
Lot’s of love,
