A New Year tends to bring the need for a new start. And for me the case is a need for new clothes (well that’s my excuse!) so I took a trip to my local Primark in Portsmouth and stocked up on a few ‘essential’ items.
I didn’t have a set plan of what to get, more I ended up with what caught my eye. My current look is something of a confused unicorn! Think sparkley, pastel, glittery and you’ve got me pegged. Yes, I am a 32 year old woman with regressed fashion style of a 12 year old!
Case on point is my current coat. Its from the website www.prettylittlething.com and is dark green with a pastel coloured trim. I like that it adds colour to a plain colour and is fun, but some would say it’s better on a teenager, but hey you only live once!
And I will add I have had a number of compliments on it from random strangers, so it’s all good!
So in Primark I picked up some jumpers/sweatshirts, jeans and a few accessories. Let me share with you below what I got…
I was after a pair of jeans as I find they are my default wardrobe staple for winter and I found this straight fit pair in the reduced section for a mere £5! I did try them on to be sure they fitted and they were just fine. They are ankle grazers, but I will turn up the hem and wear with my black boots or my new trainers (more below).
To go with this I picked up this blush/lilac jumper for £12. It has a v-neck back which I like as it adds a bit of extra detail to a plain jumper. I think this goes well with the jeans and can be dressed up for a more smart casual look.
I then spied these two sweatshirts for £5 each. Such a great price. There is also a few other styles in this range, but I opted for this pale pink and grey versions.
They fit well and are have soft lining on inside. I think these would look great with a pair of boyfriend jeans and Converses for a chilled laid back look.
I also came across some sparkly Converse style trainers. There was pale pink glittery high tops, these silver holographic high tops and a pair of silver woven low tops (is that a thing?!).
I opted for this pair below as I thought they were a bit more subtle than the pink pair. Don’t think I’d wear them with my pastel trim coat mind, a bit much!
These trainers are £10 and would look great adding some interest to a more simpler look. Who doesn’t like a bit of sparkle!
I also got this striped cotton top for £4. What I love is the blue/lavendar colour of the stripes. I think it’s a pretty shade and has a pastel feel about it. Great for layering with jumpers and zip tops in this cold January weather.
I also gabbed these Beauty and the Beast socks. They are £3 for a pack of three socks. Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film so I just had to get these. I can’t wait til March and the live action version comes out. I for one will be queing at the cinema to see this!
Being in Primark I couldn’t pass up getting some accessories. I’ve been wanting to try these make up application brushes for a few months now and when I saw Primark had them for only a few quid each (£3 for the larger one and £2.50 for the smaller one) I just had to give them a try.
I’ve seen YouTube video’s showing how great these brushes (not these exact ones but similiar) are so I hope they live up to the reputation. If not they were only a few quid so all is not lost.
I additionally picked up these metallic colour hair bands and they were only £1. Supposedly not meant to get your hair tangled in as some hair bands do and I love the colours of them.
The last item I got from Primark was a scarf for £7. It’s so soft and I love the soft netural colours of it. I wouldn’t team it with my pastel trim coat, but maybe with my black biker jacket. In the slightly warm weather, perhaps with a denim jacket also.
I have also shown an eyeshadow that I got. This is from MAC but I wanted to share it as it’s such a pretty colour. It’s a pinky red with gold shimmer. Unlike any colour I have seen before, it looked really pretty when I swatched it. This was £13 from the new MAC consession in Debenhams in Portsmouth.
If you want to see these items in 3D then have a look at my YouTube video where I talk though all the above items (plus a couple of others too).
Thanks for checking out this post! I hope you’re having a great New Year!
Lot’s of love,
