Hello! And thank you for taking the opportunity to find out about The Blogger Tag. To start things off, I have answered the below questions and have then tagged some fellow bloggers to join in and answer the same questions on their blog.
The aim of the game, to get to know each other as bloggers a bit better. A how better then with some right nosy (but not that nosy!) questions! Thanks also to Gemma who helped with the questions.
Here are my answers…
1: How tall are you?
ft 3″. On the the border of being petite and just a short arse!
2: Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what?
I don’t. I wish I did but really I am just mediocre at everything. I
love writing so whilst I wouldn’t call it a talent it’s about the
only thing that I would say I’m good at. That and remembering
3: What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve?
companies that send you emails for products that bear no relation to
my blog. Or the email reads as a copy and past exercise. I will only
work with brands that show a genuine interest in my blog, that
reflect my blog. No I won’t promote your male plus size brand!
4: What’s your biggest non-blog related pet peeve?
not being polite, ie manners. A genuine please and a thank you goes a
long way for me. Rudeness really bugs me!
5: What’s your favourite song?
is a toughie! I guess it would depend on my mood but a song that I do
like a lot is Your Song by Elton John. Not that I’m a massive EJ fan
but there is a version of it in my favourite film, Moulin Rouge. I
love the lyrics, simple but effective.
6: What’s your favourite social media website?
toughie as there is a few I could choose but I guess I would say
Twitter. Which is surprising for me as I used to hate Twitter. Before
I started my blog I just didn’t get the point of it.
Facebook I would get interaction from my friends and family but
Twitter I would get diddly squat from anyone. But since creating my
blog I’ve found that it’s an invaluable tool to engage with other
bloggers and share tips and ideas.
7: What’s your favorite way to spend your free time when you’re
or shopping. I love to squirrel myself away with a good book and
escape into a warm hearted tale. I find it a relaxing, especially
when I’m feeling particularly anxious.
I’m feeling a bit more sociable then I like to go shopping. No
necessarily food shopping, more clothes, beauty and homeware
is something I would mostly prefer to do solo. I tend to have the
husband with me which I love but sometimes (ok most times!) he will
be like my conscious, ‘Do you really need another duvet
cover/pjs/mascara’. So shopping solo means I can shop and waste my
money much more freely!
8: What’s your favourite junk food?
It’s simple, quick to cook, and so tasty. Give me a deep pan any day!
9: Do you have a pet or pets? If so, what kind and what are their
is a question I wish I could answer yes to. I live in a rented first
floor flat, so thus I can’t have any pets. I suppose I could chance
it with maybe a few fish in a tank but I prefer a pet I can actually
cat would be ideal for me, but until I have a property,
idealistically with a garden I am sans pet.
suffice with numerous cat videos on Youtube!
10: What are your number one favorite nonfiction and fiction books?
Letters from the Lighthouse Cafe by Ali McNamara. I fell in love with
this book and would highly recommend it. Such a wonderful and unique
tale, you can see my review of it on a previous blog post here
fiction- Currently I would say Tony Robinson’s autobiography- No
Cunning Plan. For those not familiar of Tony’s work, he is a classic
British comedy actor, of the era of Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) and Sir
has starred in one of my favourite TV shows, Blackadder as the
buffoon Baldrick, then in 90’s kids show Maid Marian and her Merry
Men and more recently in Time Team.
was hooked from the first chapter of Tony’s autobiography and
surprised to learn how hard Tony had worked in the acting sector
before he got his big break in Blackadder. Suffice to say Tony has
certainly paid his dues.
11: What’s your favorite beauty product or tool?
I count my GHD’s? I have had a pair of GHD’s for over a decade now
(not the same pair mind!) and would be lost with out them. Let’s just
say my hair (despite the over processing) is all the better for them.
12: When were you last embarrassed? What happened?
embarrassed is a daily occurrence to me. Normally I put my foot in it
(metaphorically) speaking on a regular occasion.
13: If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest
of your life, what would it be?
I have been a tea drinker since childhood and have a cup of tea most
days. It normally has to be Earl Grey (ooh get me!) but PG Tips is
just as good.
I go to stay in a hotel and the room doesn’t have tea making
facilities then the hotel has failed in my eyes. Tea makes anywhere
feel more like home!
14: What’s your favourite movie?
previously mentioned, Moulin Rouge! The set designs, the costumes,
the music, the characters and storyline, the directing, all amazing.
love the songs, I love the drama of the two lovers and the cleverness
of crafting modern day songs into a film set at the turn on the 20th
century. Baz Luhrman (the director) is a God to me and Ewan McGregor
is a sex God!
was never a high point for me, but if I had to pick one preferable
lesson I would say art. I wasn’t particularly good at it but I liked
the freedom to create my own work and let my imagination run roit.
like to be creative (hence the blog) so art let me be creative far
more than maths or science could.
16: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
the South Coast of England, preferably in Bournemouth. I have always
lived near the coast and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. I’m
not a big city lover, neither am I a country bumpkin, so somewhere
like Bournemouth has city living (on a small scale) with a beautiful
17: PC or Mac?
only as I’ve been brought up on Microsoft. But saying that I have an
Apple phone, iPad ans iPod, so some would say I’ve gone over to the
‘other side’. Thinking about it I think I’m sitting on the fence with
18: Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse?
(or kind gesture from a friend)
would be from my husband. He is always doing lovely things for me, be
it making me copious cups of tea, making dinner and being an all
round good guy.
he brought himself and me tickets to see an exclusive Derren Brown
show next March. That I would say was very kind of him.
19: Favourite celebrity?
actually have three (if that’s allowed). The first two are social
media lovelies, Zalfie (aka Alfie Deyes and Zoe Sugg). I love the
fact they are totally themselves, warts and all (not litterally
mind!) and have their heads screwed on. A refreshing and positive
influence for the youth of today.
I really like Ewan Macgregor. Ewan has been my favourite actor for
many years (since Moulin Rouge) and is also incredibly humble and
down to earth (and good looking too!).
20: What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?
there are is a great selection to chose from. I would say Gemma aka
Dorkface as she is super!lovely and inspirational. Also Abbey Louisa
Rose is a star and Holly aka Closing Winter. We’s make a great girl
21: Who is your biggest inspiration?
going back to Zoe Sugg here and say she has given me so much
inspiration. I used to think being quite, introverted and shy was not
cool or the popular way to be. Zoe has shown that being yourself is
the only way to be. I feel a lot of affinity with Zoe, like
we are quite similar people, so to see her be so successful whilst
not becoming a diva is very inspiring.
22: What is your favourite blog to read?
will sound lame but I couldn’t pick one as they are all so good. I
love discovering new blogs and bloggers. A blog where some one is
honest and isn’t all about the freebies is a winner to me.
23: What is your favourite high street shop?
is the mother of all questions! I does sometimes vary as if
I receive bad service then it will put me off. A bit fickle
really! I would say Cath Kidston is up there with their kitch and
retro products and great service. The staff are always so friendly.
I also love Tiger (now called Flying Tiger). I’m a bit of a
sucker for stationery and home ware and Tiger have such a fantastic
variety and the prices are really affordable.
24: Are you in education or do you work?
work. I have been working since the age of 17 (approx 15 years now).
I didn’t choose to work in retail, but 15 years later here I am. I
have worked for three different high street retails, the good, the
bad and the ugly. My current job is for a well known middle class
department store and they are the good on the high street. If you
want to work for a retailer that respects, rewards and supports in
staff then John Lewis is the one for you. Heading into Christmas and
it’s going to be busy, but equally fun. Look out for the Christmas
advert this year. I don’t know what it is about but I’m hoping it’s
going to be epic!
25: One thing you are proud of?
going to sound cheesy but my blog. Ok, it’s not the greatest but it’s
a reflection of me and the hardwork I have put in to each post and to
the maintaining of it. Sometimes it can be a bit like work but it’s
all worth it in the end. It’s mine and I’m proud to say it is!
