Hello! This blog post is about the new Benefit Cosmetics I have recently treated myself too. I was looking for a new eye brow product, as I have lots of different ones, but none in the right shade!
So I visited a Benefit make up counter recently and explained my eye brow woes to one of their consultants. She found me a shade to matched my hair colour in the ‘Precisely, my brow pencil’. On top of this she added some ‘Ka brow’ to add a bit more colour.
I didn’t need convincing of wanting some new make up, especially from Benefit, so I agreed to buy the pencil. The consultant then mentioned their new product that had just been released that day, the ‘They’re real, Big Sexy Eye Kit’.
She showed me the tin and inside is six eye shadow shades, in pairs. Along with it comes a sponge applicator. The trick is to swipe the sponge over one of the sets of eye colour to get a two tone effect, which then swiped onto the eye lid creates a look with the light colour on the front of the lid and the darker shade to add depth and definition.
I loved the cleverness of this, such a great idea. And the consultant said that if I brought the brow pencil and the eye shadow kit, I would also get a mini ‘Ka-brow’ and ‘Dew the hoola’ for free. Sounded like a good deal to me! She also kindly added in a mini ‘Gimme brow’ too.
Definitely was worth heading to Benefit!
‘Precisely, my brow pencil’. This is a really easy to use eye pencil. The colour can be twisted up from the bottom and to apply, you draw on little flicks on the brow, to mimic eye brow hairs.
The pencil is light to hold and I love the packaging.
‘Ka brow’. This is I think a sample size version. You can buy a full size version. But that’s not to say because it’s smaller it isn’t as good. To me this is a take on Anastastia’s eye brow pomade as in the ‘Ka-brow’ you get a pot of pomade, with a brush applicator at the other end.
It’s relatively easy to apply and does fill in gaps in my brows (which I do I have!). It lasts as well. I had to give it a good scrub with my make up remover to get it off, which is great if you want a product with lasting power.
‘Ready, Set, Brow’. I got this mini version free with a magazine a month or so ago and was the first product I tried from their new eye brow range and this I love! It is a clear product that you comb through your brows once you have styled them and sets them in place.
It leaves my brows feeling a bit hard, but that’s the gel ensuring everything stays put, but you can’t see it. I use this every day on my brows.
‘Goof proof brow pencil’. This is another product I got free with a magazine and I gave it a go. As it was free I couldn’t chose the shade, so I would say this is a bit dark for me.
It applies a bit to easily, and by that I mean it transfers easily and can be difficult to make my brows look neat (not that they look that neat anyway!).
This is my least favourite of their eye brow collection and would recommend the ‘Precisely, my brow pencil’ instead.
‘Gimme brow’ tints your brows and aims to give them definition. I haven’t tried this at home yet as I don’t want to over do my brows with all these products, but I like the spooly applicator which looks like would give me good coverage as it would coat all the hairs.
And this is a handy travel size version too.
‘Dew the hoola’ is based on their best selling ‘Hoola’ bronzer. This comes in a gel/liquid form which you can blend onto your skin to give it a bit of bronze effect. This is great if you prefer a more dewy effect bronzer, than using a powder bronzer.
Great now that summer is turning to autumn and you still want a healthy looking glow.
And the here is the ‘Big Sexy Eye Kit’. As you can see the three sets of colour, which are very pretty and I think would suit most eye colourings. I have tried them, and it does work! I think you would need to give it a couple of goes to get the exact effect, but if you like blending shades together, this does the trick!
What also sold it to me was it’s part of their ‘They’re real’ collection and I am totally converted to their ‘They’re real false lash’ mascara and this is another winner for me!
Also look out, as coming soon is the ‘They’re Real, Big Sexy Lip Kit’. I saw this being demonstrated on QVC on morning and this looks amazing. It features 4 lip colours, which each have two shades in them. One is for creating a lip liner effect, whilst the rest of the lip stick is a slightly lighter shade to colour you lips. Ingenious!
I hope you liked my thoughts on these new products and would love to know what your favourite is and why!
Lot’s of love,
