The Ab Fab Collab | Our Dream Homes

Welcome to the first Ab Fab Collab of 2017. If you haven't been introduced to this collab then let me give you a refresh. Myself and fellow blogger Abbey Louisa Rose do a blog collab every month or so sharing our thoughts on a chosen topic.
This month's topic is our Dream House. When Abbey suggested this I was like 'yeah this is a great idea!' as I love interiors and homeware. So below I am sharing what I think makes my dream house. And you can check out Abbey's post here.

They say location is everything and whilst my dream house could be anywhere in the world, I actually would choose to stay in the UK. I couldn't imagine living anywhere other than near the coast, so my dream location would be Bournemouth. Perhaps not the obvious location, but I love the beach, the shops and the whole area really.
I'd pick a house that is a reasonable size, but not too big as I know I'd not use all the rooms.
On my shopping list for my dream house it would have the following:

A cosy and homely living room
A country style kitchen where it would look like a Cath Kidston show room!
A conservatory for winter days of being outside, but not outside if you know what I mean!
A cinema room, all cosy and full of cushions and Lazy Boys (the massaging chairs!)
A walk in wardrobe with dressing table then I could keep the bedroom clutter free
A relaxing bathroom to chill out in
A study or two (one for me and one for the husband)
A library (for the husband)
A games room, with pool table and games consoles
A master bedroom that is sophisticated whilst homely and feminine with ensuite
A basement for the husband (he likes small dark spaces!)
A garden that doesn't have to be huge, but is well looked after and perhaps leads to woodland
A swimming pool is optional as I bet I wouldn't use it!
A roof top garden for evening soirees (that would never happen!)

Here is a mood board to give a sense of my home interior style

Bedroom Dreams

Below I have linked in my Pinterest posts that give you an idea of the type of room decor I like and would like to have in my dream home.

As I was writing this post I thought I would look on Right Move to see what sort of houses are on the market for my dream home and I found this 5 bedroom house in Bournemouth for £1,350,000. Not much then! But it pretty much is what I'd like in my ideal home.
The only obvious thing I would change about this house is the paved area outside the house. I would prefer a lawn and some shrubs and plants/flowers. Make it look more softer than plain grey concrete slabs.

Whilst all the above would be amazing to have, it is just material. What really makes my ideal home is sharing it with the ones I love, like my husband and a cat or two! And having a home too, I'm fully aware that there are those who don't which makes me sad as everyone should have a home they feel at home in.
I could have the most glamourous house, but if it was just me then it would be a bit rubbish. A real home is made with love. Still if I ever win the lottery I'll invite you around for a cuppa, just so you can be nosey if your anything like me!

I'd love to know what makes a dream house for you, let me know in the comments below. And remember to check out Abbey's collab post at abbeylouisarose.blogspot.co.uk.

Love and hugs,

  1. If I was rich I would probably go for something similar like you mentioned, since I'm not rich, haha, I'll be more than happy with cozy small flat/house with dog and cats. :)

    1. Hi Michelle, I saw America's most expensive house in the Metro yesterday. A whopping $200m! Now that was a dream house. Despite the price tag, this feels more modest! Thanks for reading 😊xx

  2. Absolutely love the idea of a Cath Kidston filled country kitchen, her homeware is always so beautiful! And of course I'd have to have a wardrobe full of her gorgeous printed clothing to match hehe 😉 The bathroom in the house you looked at in Right Move is incredible, how I would love to soak in that bath! Thanks so much for sharing and for collaborating with me, roll on February! 💕
