May favourites

31 May 2016

I can't believe it's that time again, reviewing my monthly favs!
This month it has mostly been make up, but the odd book thrown in too. So let's waste no time and see what I've been rating!

First off is the make up brand NYX. So in love with this brand at the mo. I was visiting my local Boot's store and just happen to see an NYX stand. I got stupidly excited, much to my husbands amusement and took to deciding what to buy. Here is what I have brought and been loving.

I married a man with no emotion | Dating someone with Aspergers

29 May 2016

You may or may not of seen an article in the Sunday Mirror lifestyle magazine, Notebook on Sunday 29th May. The article was titled 'I married a man with no emotion' and is written with the aid of a PR company called Booked PR and myself for the supplement.

How this came about was Dan as been using Booked PR to promote his books, especially his 'Look into my eyes' book, which is sort of auto biographical/help guide for anyone who has Aspergers.
The PR company liked the idea of revealing the angle of the partner/other halves point of view, as that tends to be the neglected side of someone who has a form of autism.

To travel or not to travel

22 May 2016

In Poland. I think I look worse than I was feeling,
but I wasn't feeling in my comfort zone by any means
.

I thought I would centre this post around a topic that is a bit personal. Yeah I can write posts about make up and the like, but sometimes I want to get a bit deeper and show there's more to me than just cute and fluffy stuff (well actually I'll let you make your own mind up on that!).

Sunshine and the media

13 May 2016

British summer. It's here one minute and taken a vacation of it's own the next. So that's why today, with the weather forecasting sunshine I wanted to make the most of the rays before they go AWOL.
I didn't feel like venturing too far afield so I took a walk into my local town centre and stopped off for brunch at Charlie Harper's which is a cafe that is popular with the locals. It's a bit tucked away so I doubt many visitors discover it.
I had scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and a cup of tea, whilst Dan opted for a full cooked breakfast. Yummy. After we were fed and watered we walked through the town centre and towards the Cathedral. Behind the Cathedral is some gardens, where in the summer it's full of beautiful and colourful flora. Being that it was warming up myself and Dan found a bench in the corner of the gardens and sat back to take in some much missed sunshine.

After a while I was concerned that I might be catching too much of the sun on my bare arms (I didn't use any sunscreen-tsk!) so we got up and took a walk around the gardens. Most of the flowers were yet to blossom yet, so I was hunting out the few that had!
BTW, my Outfit Of The Day is a halter top with sun and moon print and ruched side khaki maxi skirt, both from Boohoo. Teamed with my high top converses, Urban Outfitters sunglasses and watch from Olivia Burton. Shout out to Boohoo for their excellent customer service. I had a couple of issues but where very promptly and efficiently sorted out. As I've just popped by Boohoo cherry, I am totally converted!

Walking in the moonlight!

8 May 2016

I walk. And I walk a lot. Always have done. Even as a kid I was keen to be out of my push chair and walking where ever I could.
Being a non car driver it also means I walk pretty much everywhere a car or public transport can not be accessed. So early 2015 when I saw a local hospice promoting a Moonlight Walk, I thought 'I can do that' and I signed myself up. The hospice is close to my heart as my cousin as well as a good family friend both used the hospice when they were diagnosed with terminal cancer. They were fully supported right though their illness til the end which such care at the hospice and all for no cost. This gave me the motivation I needed to get my trainers at the ready and walk 10 miles around my local town and surrounding areas at 10 o'clock at night.
Dan and myself one night in May last year completed the walk in 3 hours. It's not classed in any way as a race, rather than a walk to raise money for the hospice, but being keen walkers we wanted to make good time.

After completing the walk last year and enjoying it so much, I straight away signed up for this years walk. Not being a fortune teller or a weather forecaster, you never know what the weather will be like on the night. But luckily it has been a warm day and continued to be a warm night too.

Dan and myself donned our trainers and me my sport leggings and top and headed off to the local sports centre for the start line. After registering ourselves as arrived with one of the volunteers, we were given our complementary yellow t-shirts with branding of the hospice and it's sponsors across the back and front.
The sports hall was awash with a sea of yellow t-shirt walkers, waiting to get to the start line. After a brief warm up in the car park outside, followed by a count down, we were off in the midst of hundreds of other walks.

Stationery you're gonna want!

3 May 2016

Being a blogger as well as being an organised person means I need and want lot's of stationery!
I have a habit of buying a pretty note pad, and then another and another after that. I don't end up writing in half of them, but they do look pretty on my desk! Can't it be classed as an decorative item?

I have recently discovered a website called www.bando.com and they stock such fun and colourful stationery that I thought I'd see what else is out there to be discovered and I thought I would share what my searching found and share my highlights.

So have a scroll below and I hope you find something you like!

My April Favs

1 May 2016

Hi there! I've not done a monthly fav's before, so I thought it was about time I did!
Not really sure what the etiquette is with this type of blog, so I'm just sharing what I have been loving this month.
So let's begin...

For my birthday my wonderful husband had gifted me with a beautiful necklace from Pandora. I'm a massive fan so I was one happy lady when I opened the gift box with the Pandora logo on the top!
Pandora to me do beautiful and elegant, whilst still girly jewelry and I now have many of their charms for their bracelets.
The necklace my husband got me is called 'Blooming Dahlia' and retails for £40. The chain and the charm is brought separately which means I can change it up with different pendants.
I love the fact it's pink, floral and simple. Perfect for wearing on a daily basis without being too over done. I have worn it a lot since receiving it and makes me think of the very generous hubby when I wear it!

NYX haul | My new collection

I've heard of NYX (is it pronounced NYX or nicks?!) for some time, but not been able to find it in stores, so when I discovered Boots in Brighton have a whole section for the brand I couldn't help but have a little splurge! Not that I need anymore make up but I wanted to see if the brand lives up to the hype.

I love eye colour, especially shimmery shades, so I picked up two eye crayons and two eye shadow pots. Along with a felt tip eyeliner and one of their iconic lip creams.
The price points are reasonable, enough for me to pick up several items without (but nearly) breaking the bank!
Below I'll review each item to let you know what I think...
