Maybe it's Maybelline

After my most recent post I thought I would post a more cheery post. And defaulted to wanting to share my recent drug store buys.
I visited Superdrug on Easter Monday to look for a new tweezer (wow how exciting-not!). Anway my eyebrows are a thing of wonder. I.e, I wonder why she has such god awful things above her eyes!
And for that I have no answer other than I'm too much of a wuss to get them done professionally. So I will pluck them to the best of my ability (which isn't much!) and then I normally end up growing them out and then pluck them again.
And to do this, you at least need the right tools. And after discovering the £1 Primark tweezers I brought a couple of months back aren't really up to the job, I wanted to invest in a good pair of tweezers.

I opted for a pair (is it a pair when it is only one tweezer?) of tweezers from a brand called Browtician. Not a brand I've heard of before but I'm a sucker for the packaging and it was at a price I was happy to pay. One day I might invest in some Tweezerman's!
Not used them yet, but I'm hoping that for the price (£7.99) they should help get my brows in some sort of order.

I also purchased 4 products from Maybelline as they had a buy one item get the next one half price offer. Such a fool for unnecessary discount!
The first item I picked up was Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation in 01 Natural. I swatched a tester on my hand (yes I know the skin colour on my hand is different to my face but it's easier to do it this way!) and thought it had a good solid coverage with a soft texture.
When I got home and tried this again the colour seemed darker. So I'm not sure if this will be something I will use on a regular basis, maybe I'll use it with one of my lighter foundations.
Lovely feeling product but not sure about the colour.
Update- I have since tried this on my face and wow the colour doesn't suit me! Too yellow and washes me out! The coverage is great but I chose a colour that doesn't suit me (see testing it on your hand doesn't help!). This was the lightest shade there was and I wouldn't want to go for a darker shade either. Ah well, you win some, you lose some!

I then picked up The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara. I've seen this in the shops for a little while now and wanted to try it to see if it's worth the hype.
After applying this, I found whilst it did work as a mascara, ie, it coated my lashes, I didn't see any obvious 'push up' effect. Maybe I have eyelashes that don't like to be pushed up! Don't know what effect I was hoping for but whilst in my opinion it's fine as a mascara I wouldn't purchase it again for any additional benefits.

And the last two products I picked up were nail polishes. I chose the colour Dusty Rose in The Nudes Collection. I was looking for a pale pink colour for day to day wear and loved the soft pink shade. I can't recall using this specific nail polish line before so I'm looking forward to giving it a go this evening. And to complete this purchase I brought a 60 second dry clear polish for a top coat for my nail polish.
Update- I gave these two a go, and unlike the mascara these are great. The colour is pretty and ideal for my work. With the top coat I have found that after three days there is only minor chipping along the edge of my nail. I will be using this again for sure :)

Not the biggest or best haul admittedly, but still I'm hoping some great products there!

Until next time,

Love,
